How to recover from software failure of explosion-proof camera

Power Off and Restart: A Single Solution
When an explosion-proof camera powers on but displays no image, and external issues such as power supply or wiring have been ruled out, you can do the following:

Completely Disconnect the Power: Locate the switch or power adapter supplying the camera and completely disconnect the power. Do not press the reset button; directly cut off the power supply.

Wait a Short While: Allow the device to completely discharge and reset its internal processes. Ten seconds is sufficient.

Reconnect the Power: Reconnect the power supply and allow the device to start.

If the image returns to normal after restarting, it means the initial system crash was indeed an intermittent program freeze, and the problem has been resolved. The hardware itself is not damaged. You can continue to use it normally. Occasional crashes are normal for electronic devices and are not a cause for concern.

🚫 Restart Ineffective? That's probably not a software issue.

If the screen doesn't recover after a power cycle, the problem is likely elsewhere. Check these common misinterpretations as software malfunctions:

Power supply "frozen": Touch the power adapter with the back of your hand. If it feels cold and the device displays no image, the power supply itself is either overheating or damaged. Replacing it with a power supply of the same specifications will verify this.

Reversed wiring: Especially for newly installed devices or devices that have recently been tampered with, use a multimeter to check if the positive and negative terminals of the power supply are correct. If reversed, simply swap them.

Short circuit or interference in the video cable: If the screen displays horizontal bars, scrolling, or a grid pattern instead of a completely black screen, it's most likely signal interference, unrelated to software.

If restarting doesn't work and the above causes have been ruled out, you can return to the troubleshooting methods for hardware malfunctions.

⚠️ Safety Reminder During Operation

When performing power-off restarts or any operation requiring contact with equipment or wiring, please note the following:

Operate in a safe area: If the camera is installed in a hazardous area with explosive gases or dust, the power-off and power-back operations should be performed in a control room or distribution box away from the site.

Do not open the enclosure on-site: If it is only a power-off restart, there is absolutely no need to open the explosion-proof enclosure. If the restart is ineffective and further inspection is required, the equipment should be removed and taken to a safe maintenance area for handling.
